Jack Hirschman
is a prolific American poet, painter, translator and social activist. In 2006 he was appointed Poet Laureate of San Francisco and in 2007 he was the key organiser of the first San Francisco International Poetry Festival, now biennale. In partnership with Friends of the San Francisco Public Library and the San Francisco Public Library, he has also presented smaller poetry festivals in a variety of languages, including the Latino Poetry Festival, the Vietnamese Poetry Festival and the Iranian Arts Poetry Festival. He is active with the Revolutionary Poets Brigade and curates the Poets 11 Anthology.
