Waheed Taweela is an Egyptian writer, born in 1960. He has worked as a consultant for the Arab League in Tunis and cultural adviser for the "Cultural Village" KATARA in Doha, Qatar.

He has two collections of short stories (1997 and 2000), and three novels: Ala'b al-Hawa (Games of Passion) 2003, Ahmar Khafif (Light Red) 2008, and the acclaimed Bab el-Layl (Gate of the Night) 2013, excerpted in Banipal 52.
