Mahmoud El-Wardany
Mahmoud El-Wardany, born in Cairo in 1950, is an Egyptian writer and journalist. Since 1984 he has published four collections of short stories, eight novels and an autobiographical work.
He is the co-founder of Cairo’s weekly literary journal Akhbar al-Adab. He has won the Sawiris cultural award twice, in 2008 for his short stories al-Hafla al-Sabahi (A Morning Party), and in 2011 for his novel Bayt al-Nar (House of Fire). His latest novel is al-Bahth ‘An Dina (Looking for Dina).
