Lukman Derky
was born in Derbassiya, Syria, in 1966. He was a member of Aleppo University’s literary circle in the 1980s. He has published six collections of poetry and one of short stories. He has worked for television and theatre as writer, actor, author, also writing in Syrian and Arabic newspapers, with a daily column in Baladna, a Syrian paper. He is a co-founder of the satirical newspaper Al-Dumery, and founder of Alif magazine for new writing. He lives in Damascus.
