Yehouda Shenhav-Shahrabani is an Arab Jew. He is a Professor of Sociology at Tel Aviv University, and chief editor of Maktoob, a book series for the translation of Arabic literature, at the Jerusalem Van Leer Institute.
He is also a Membre du Conseil Scientifique de l’Institut d’Études Avancées de Nantes.
Among his books are The Arab Jews: A Postcolonial Reading of Nationalism, Ethnicity and Religion (2006, Stanford University Press) and Beyond the Two State Solution (2014, Polity Press).
He has translated 15 novels from Arabic to Hebrew, among them works by Elias Khoury, Mahmoud Shukair, Ali al-Muqri, and Salman Natour.
He is a guest editor of Banipal 72 – Iraqi Jewish Writers (Autumn/Winter 2021).
