was born in al-Mudhayrib, Oman, in 1962. He has a degree in Geology and Marine Sciences. His first poetry collection came out in 1992, and since then four more. He writes on travel in Arab newspapers. Some of his poetry has appeared in English, French, German and Malabar translation.

In 2003 he won the Ibn Battuta Award for Geographical Literature for his travel book Ain wa Janah [Eye and Wing], first published in Abu Dhabi in 2004, then by Dar al-Jamal in 2008, with the third edition being published in Kitab fi Jareeda in 2009.
