Juan Goytisolo is a renowned Spanish poet,was born in Barcelona in 1931.

In 1951 he founded the Turia group of  writers opposed to Franco and in 1956 he moved to Paris. He has written several novels, essays and two volumes of autobiography. He has lived in Marrakech since the mid-1990s. He's been awarded many prizes for his work, including in 2012 the Formentor international literary prize.
