was born in Baghdad in 1950 and has lived in London since 1976. She trained as a pharmacist, later working with the Palestinian Red Crescent. She has published three novels, incl. the biographical Through the Vast Halls of Memory (English & Arabic) and three short story collections. She is a co-founder of Act Together: Women Against Sanctions and War on Iraq.
