born in 1959 in the Slovenian village of Dolenci, is a prolific writer, playwright, and screenwriter of more than 100 works. He is most well known for his novels, many of which have received awards and critical recognition. In 2008, he was shortlisted for the Europe Book Prize and in 2010 nominated for the IMPAC Award. There have been six feature films made based on his novels, one, Petelinji zajtrk [Rooster’s Breakfast] being the most viewed film in Slovenia since independence.
