Lina Hawyan Alhassan is a Syrian novelist, born in 1975. She was awarded a Diploma in Advanced Philosophy Studies from Damascus University in 2001. She currently lives in Lebanon and has worked as a journalist for the culture section of the Syrian newspaper Al-Thawra since 2003.

She has published ten works of fiction, a collection of poetry and three non-fiction works that are studies of the Syrian desert.

She took part in the 2010 nadwa workshop for creative writing organised by the International Prize for Arabic Fiction. 

Her novel lmas w Nisaa (Diamonds and Women), 2014,  was shortlisted for the 2015 International Prize for Arabic Fiction.
