During the nineties Dutch writing was enriched by new and energetic voices, coming from young writers of Arab origin, taking up themes that had never been explored before, but were they Dutch or Arabs or something inbetween?

Banipal 35 (Summer 2009 issue) published a special issue entitled Writing in Dutch, with many texts and new insights. Guest editor and introducer of the feature, Victor Schiferli, with authors Abdelkader Benali and Mustafa Stitou, two of the ten featured authors, discuss the opportunities and problems of this new literature.

Copies of Banipal 35 will be available at the event.  To find out more about the issue, go to  http://www.banipal.co.uk/ back_issues/
